Audiences will get their first glimpse of Christopher Pine as James T. Kirk when Star Trek (2009) hits theaters May 8, but chances are they've seen him in other movies.
Pine certainly does not have the name recognition of William Shatner, the actor who played the original Captain Kirk from Gene Roddenberry's classic Star Trek series, but he certainly has not come out of nowhere. Entertainment Weekly ranked him 27th on their "30 under 30" list in 2008 and it also helps that both of his parents made their living in Hollywood. Some facts about Pine's early life and career:

Pine appeared as Lord Nicholas Devereax, nephew of Anne Hatheway's character Mia Thermopolis, in Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement (2004). Pine once again played a love interest to a young Hollywood actress in the film Just My Luck (2006).
