The American Film Institute, AFI, has named the "Top Ten Science Fiction Films of All Time.' Stanley Kubrick's '2001 A Space Odyssey' tops the movie list.
The American Film Institute has recently released their list of the "Top 100 Films of All Time." The top 100 are divided into 10 categories of 10 movies each. The 'Top Ten Science Fiction Films of All Time" is topped by '2001 A Space Odyssey." The top ten science fiction movies of all time, in order, are: 2001 a Space Odyssey, Star Wars - Episode IV - A New Hope, E.T. The Extra Terrestrial, Clockwork Orange, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Blade Runner, Alien, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Invasion of the Body Snatchers and Back to the Future.

The oldest movie on the top ten list is 'The Day the Earth Stood Still,' made in 1951. The most recent movie on the list is Terminator 2, made in 1991. Directors Stanley Kubrick and Ridley Scott each made the top ten list twice. Kubrick's 'Clockwork Orange' and '2001 A Space Odysse' ranked high on the list. Ridley Scott's 'Blade Runner' and 'Alien.' were also on the the top ten list.
